The future is not defined; it is always plural, impossible to predict, not determined and can be influenced by our decisions. Futures design is a discipline that links strategic design and collaborative design to help build medium and long-term strategies.
Coboi Lab creates an annex to Method 4-17 that allows you to outline desirable and undesirable futures that are useful when making decisions. Far from utopias and dystopias, the design of futures seeks to build a balance between the feasible, desirable and viable
Use future design as a solid and useful tool for designing public policy , helping to visualize desirable and viable scenarios in the medium and long term.
In the history of Coboi lab, the design of futures has been present to a greater or lesser degree in various internal and experimental activities of the laboratory. It has been from the use of Method 4> 17 in several projects that we detected the suitability that would imply that within the working logic of our Method to face challenges in a collaborative way we also contemplated the option of being able to design futures to facilitate political decision-making. It is for this reason that, from Coboi lab, we promoted the creation of a specific annex for the design of futures for our Methodology.
Thanks to the collaboration of expert Andreu Belsunces ( Becoming ), a sociologist of design and technology (and former collaborator of Coboi lab), he configured the content for us and proposed the future design tools that have ended up forming a useful and actionable annex from a public laboratory like Coboi lab.
