Last Friday, May 27, together with the Sant Boi City Council, we organized the \u201cElectric Vehicle Conference: Future Perspectives and Shared Visions.\u201d<\/strong> The aim was to create a meeting point between automotive experts, companies in the sector, and institutions to share reflections and experiences on the transformation the automotive industry is currently undergoing.<\/p>\n

The conference was opened by the Mayor, Llu\u00efsa Moret<\/strong>, who stated that \u201cSant Boi wants to be a benchmark in the process of ecological transition.\u201d<\/em> This event was framed within the 2030 Agenda<\/strong>, in which Sant Boi is a pilot municipality of the Spanish Urban Agenda<\/strong>, the roadmap for building healthier and more sustainable cities. She was followed by Toni Mora<\/strong>, Vice President of the Sant Boi Motor Dealers Association and representative of the electric vehicle working group of the City Pact<\/strong>. This sector seeks to \u201ctransform our business models, moving from being car sellers to providing services to citizens.\u201d<\/em> He concluded by expressing his willingness to make Sant Boi a hub for experimentation in sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n

The first activity of the conference focused on exploring the near-future perspectives of the electric vehicle. This was followed by a series of talks from various experts mapping the potential opportunities and challenges of electric vehicles. Carolyn Daher<\/strong>, from the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, warned about the negative consequences of electric vehicles (on health, the heat island effect, the distribution of public space, etc.). Carmen Ruiz<\/strong> and Carles Conill<\/strong> presented the transformation of the C-245<\/strong>, from a road into a street, aiming for better urban integration. Elisabet Latorre<\/strong> and Vicen\u00e7 Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong> presented the Sant Boi Motor initiative<\/strong>, followed by Evarm<\/strong> and Som Mobilitat<\/strong>, who showcased electric and hydrogen vehicles.<\/p>\n

Participants collaboratively explored future perspectives of electric mobility across its entire value chain (manufacturing, sales, services, R&D). They then identified difficulties and opportunities associated with the change of model, categorized into territory, health, sector, and technology. Finally, they defined common challenges and a shared vision for the future to continue moving forward.<\/p>\n

The event concluded with final remarks on the next steps by Carlos Aldana<\/strong>, Director of the Sustainable and Healthy City Department, and the closing address was given by Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Carcel\u00e9n<\/strong>, Deputy Mayor.<\/p>\n
