On October 16, 2024, the Gasol Foundation research team participated in a training session on the Method 4>17, a Coboi lab tool to address challenges in a collaborative and structured way. This activity was part of their ad hoc residency at Espai BETA and had as its main objective to explore the potential of the method as an applicable resource within the framework of their international projects.

The training, given by Sergi Frías Hernández, head of Coboi lab, consisted of an introductory masterclass also open to other members of the Espai BETA community, including young entrepreneurs and residents interested in social innovation methodologies. The transversal and open environment favored a rich dialogue on the applicability of the Method 4>17 in diverse contexts, especially in the field of public health and research into healthy childhood.

During the session, the theoretical and practical foundations of the method were shared, which proposes a systematized way to analyze complex challenges and generate viable solutions collectively. This methodology aroused the interest of the foundation team, which is constantly faced with situations that require multidisciplinary and participatory approaches.

In the words of Santi F. Gómez Santos, global director of research and programs at the foundation, “this training has allowed us to expand our framework of action and detect possible methodological synergies with our projects.” This reflection was complemented by a positive assessment of the stay at the Espai BETA, which he described as “an emerging innovation environment with a lot of potential.”

This activity represents another step in the collaboration between the Gasol Foundation and Coboi lab, and opens the door to future collaborations in which the Method 4>17 can be integrated into internal processes or specific projects at an international level. The fact of having been able to experience the methodology within a shared context with other agents in the ecosystem has reinforced its understanding and appropriation by the foundation team.

Coboi lab, as a trainer and facilitator, thus reaffirms its commitment to sharing its own tools that can help other organizations face their challenges from a collaborative and structured perspective.
