We present the results of a workshop where 16 people imagined what a center dedicated to the citizenship initiative could be like.
The Sant Boi City Council approached CoBoi to help them rethink the Service Center (CeS), a public building that had been conceived under a production model that has become obsolete and that now needs a redefinition of its uses.
Aware that this challenge required knowledge and experience from various disciplines, we thought about creating a concentrated workspace and inviting experts from Spain and Catalonia to help us.
#1CeS1FINDE was a 72-hour coexistence, where 16 people outlined the first lines to build a new type of public service: a gateway to citizens with initiative and a revitalization of intelligence and collective action, based on the idea that no economic activity will have a positive impact if it does not revert to people and their territory.
CeS wants to be a space and at the same time a way of being and doing; it wants to inspire and attract the commitment and transformative vocation of citizens; generate spaces for dialogue and collaboration between the Administration, Citizens, Business and the Academy. CeS aspires to be a service that is adaptable to the needs of the people and groups that are part of it and, above all, an environment where to be, grow, innovate and prosper in an atmosphere of generative care, where the community itself finds its own relational and action mechanisms.
The documents we share here are a declaration of intent and a first approach. of what could be a regional reference center in social innovation that works from an open conception of health. An engine to continue transforming the territory in a collaborative and integrative way, placing respect, responsibility, equal opportunities and the constant improvement of relationships, processes and products at the center.
The materials that emerged from #1CeS1FINDE are part of a preliminary project, which means that, in fact, everything is still to be built. The materials you will find below constitute the recording of the entire work process carried out in this first phase of co-design of the CeS. They are the source code , published with the intention that other people and entities can be nourished, just as we have, by other experiences and visions.

If, on the contrary, you want the materials in parts, below we explain what you will find in each one:
First, the main report (40 pages) is an executive summary of a propositional nature that contains recommendations and guidelines that may be useful for the design of the CeS. If you want to know what the main proposal is, without going into too much depth, this will be enough.
The second document, ANNEX 1 (77 pages), presents an organized review of the materials generated during #1CeS1FINDE . It may be useful to enrich, deepen and detail what is presented in the main report.
In ANNEX 2 (12 pages) you will find the preliminary documentation that was sent to all participants in the work day. Apart from practical information, the City Council’s vision of the city is presented, the current situation of the CeS is explained and finally the results of the first CeS co-design session, which was carried out with City Council staff, are summarized. This document provides the information that was used as a basis for planning #1CeS1FINDE .
ANNEX 3 (8 pages) presents the plans, diagrams and images of the building.
Finally, in ANNEX 4 (2 pages) you can see the narrative of the first co-creation session carried out with the Sant Boi City Council.
